The Pasanggrahan Royal Inn

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

The Pasanggrahan (which means 'guesthouse' in Indonesian) Royal Guest House is St.Maarten's oldest and most charming inn. Formerly the Governor's home, a V.I.P. guest house, and royal residence, it is ideally located in Philipsburg on a white sand beach amidst enchanting tropical gardens. Secluded and offbeat, it is yet only a minute's stroll to shops, restaurants, casinos and other activities.

This authentic, colonial-style inn has all the special features of a larger hotel including personal service, ceiling fans, the Sidney Greenstreet Bar, seaside dining, manager's cocktails, complementary chaise lounges, beach towels, and afternoon tea. A special place for special people.

From Fodor'sFun on St.Maarten:

"As befits a major town, Philipsburg offers plenty of places to stay. One charming alternative, The Pasanggrahan (which means 'guest house in Indonesian), is the Island's oldest hotel, nearly lost in the front street shuffle. A throwback to a more gracious era, it has peacock chairs in the lobby and a portrait of Queen Wilhelmina on the wall. With ceiling-fanned rooms a beachside bistro, tropical gardens and the Sidney Greenstreet bar, it qualities as an oasis."
"Blithely ignoring the bustle beyond its wall (but occasionally peeking out to make sure it's still there), The Pasanggrahan is the best place for the best of both worlds. Naturally, they serve afternoon tea."
